Chapter 21

Nina gave the boys a ride home from the magic forest where they were greeted by the parents and grandmother. They weren't very happy with the boys. But Nina went to Logan's mother to tell her that she made up those lies about the boys just to keep them safe. 2 weeks later the boys had their first day of school and were asked tons of questions by all of the kids about the night in the magic forest. School was going to start out well for Logan and Arthur.

19 & 20

The people that came up on the boys were Mr. DiSilvio Silas, and Violet. Violet wasn't not cooperating with Silas so he had began to "beat the truth" out of her. Danny immediatly got angry and ran out to stop Silas from beating his mother. Soon after, Bear came out to hurt Silas too. Violet got away and the boys were all about to run off but Mr.DiSilvio pulled out a gun and stoopped them in their tracks. He went to grab the briefcase from the Hut and was ready to walk off with the money when Nina appeared with a gun and a badge. The men were caught and taken to jail.

Chapters 17 & 18

The night Logan gets back from the DiSilvo party, he waited until night time to shine his flashlight at Arthur's room to make him come out. Arthur camr to his window and asked Logan what he wanted, still mad at him for not hanging out with him anymore. They meet up outside so Logan can explain to Arthur about what Nina had said. The boys decided they would meat up the next day at the library to make a plan. Logan got up right away the next day and ran past his mother before she could peven say anything. When he got to the library, Violet, her daughter May, and Arthur were waiting at a table for him. Violet explained to the boys that she knew now what her mother had explained in the letter. The hiding game her mother talked about, took place at the Witches' Hut in the magic forest. the boys got up and made a plan to meet up with violet later that night after work. When the boys left the library, a man walked up to them. It was Mr. Disilvio, and he told the boys to stay away from the park bacuase it is dangerous. Apparently Mr. Disilvio had been sitting just close enough to them to hear every word they had said. The boys played it off like they weren't going. Later that night, against what Mr. DiSilvio said, the boys went to wal-mart to meet up with Violet. When they got to the store they saw that Violet's car was the only one left there. Soon a figure had walked up to them and it was Danny, Violet's son. He had bruises on his face from his father. Danny knew that his father had taken Violet to the magic forest to find the money. The boys all rode off to the park to look for the money and Violet. When they got to the hut they dug under the closest gingerbread which is what Violat told them to do. The dog bear helped dig and they found the breifcase. Just seconds after they heard other voices in the short distance. The boys quickly hide from the people. Child abuse is shown in these  chapters and is another reason why this book should be banned.

chapters, 14, 15 & 16

Logan woke up the next monring only to come downstairs to have his mom tell him that they needed to talk. Apparently Nina had called Logan's mother and told her that the boys had vandalized the bathrooms and stole from the library.. Immedietly his mother hung up the phone and told Logan that he can no longer hang out with Arthur. Logan was very upset and tried to talk his way out of it but his mother stood her ground.
Later that morning, Arthur came over to Logan's house and his mother was facing him telling him that logan can't play today beause they were going to do stuff together in town. Arthur put up a fight about it but she never gave in. Logan and his mother went straight to the library to apologize and give back the maps. Mrs. Jones the librarian told his mother that they had done nothing to the libary and she wasn't mad at all. His mother was surprised at this information and gave back the map but her and logan headed out the door. She had plans to go see Rhoda, who had a son that was about Loagan's age. When they get there, all logan gets is criticism and is annoyed by the boy and his friends. Soon after, they leave. A few days later they go back to a party they were having. Nina was there and had pulled logan aside to talk to him. He was unhappy with her and told her she lied and made him lose his only friend. All she had to say was that Arthur is no good for him and she kept telling him to stay away from teh magic forest.

11, 12. & 13

The boys arrive at home and Violet is there with tears in her eyes. She told the boys that if she had a map of the Magic Forest then her memory might be jogged. She tells them that she would go get the map herself, but she works the hours that the library is open. So the boys take the liberty to go get the maps themselves. When the find the maps they see that the maps cannot be checked out, so Arthur puts it in his pocket and they head out the door. They decide to stop at Silas and Violet's house so Logan can see what it looks like. When they get there they see Silas motorcyle leaned up on the house. Suddenly Silas came outside and his son Danny follows him askin if he can get a ride today but his dad said some other day and drove off. THe boys almost feel bad for Danny but Danny is very rude to them so they don't think much to it. When the boys get back to the house, Violet was there.. she had been crying. She told them that Silas had taken the note that Mrs. Donaldson wrote. They immediately knew that Silas would go straight to the library and there were 3 other maps there. The boys go back to get the other maps so that Silas can't get them. As soon as the boys had taken the map, Silas arrived asking for a map of the magic forest. The boys quickly went to the bathroom to hide but a lady told the librarian where they went. For causing a racket, the librarian brought the boys in the back room to stamp dates on books. The boys go out the back door to get away without Silas seeing them. When they get back to the house, Violet and her children are there. Danny quickly lets Arthur know that just beacause he was stayin with them doesn't make them friends. Now the book is showing another wrongful act. The boys stealing isn't right and doesn't send a good essage.

chapters 8, 9, 10

When the boys get back from the Magic Forest, they get yelled at by their parents/grandma for not telling anyone where they were. The next day the boys decided to go in the attic and check out some of Mrs. Donaldson's old stuff before it got thrown away. When they go up there, they find a bag of toy army men and a note from Mrs. Donaldson to her daugher Violet. it states that she went to someone's office and found the missing money that closed down the magic forest. At the end of the letter her writing cuts off almost as if she had been stopped by somone. Later the boys go to Wal-Mart to talk to Violet. When they get there Violet's husband, Silas, who had been in jail for so long, was there talking to her about how he has the right to see his kids. When he leaves, the boys go over there to talk to her about the letter. Violet is saddened because of the memories brought up, but is no help to what her mother says in the letter. Now these chapters bring up a sense of motivation for murder. This could be a reason to ban a book. Giving people ideas for murder isn't what a book should be doing.

5, 6, & 7

Logan and Arthur come back from the library and Logan informs his mother about what he had read about mrs. donaldson's murder report. His mother was very shocked and couldn't belive the real estate agent hadn't told them about what had happened before they moved into the house. The next day, Nina, the reporter, came over to talked to Arthur's grandma and takes some pictures of Mrs. Donaldson's house. The next day the boys ride their bikes over to the old theme park so Arthur can show it to Logan. When they get there, Nina and Billy Jomer are there checking it out because Mrs. Donaldon used to work there. Billy didn't care for Arthur and wasn't very happy when he saw that he was there. I don't think this book should be banned because there is nothing innappropriate in these chapters.

Chapter 2, 3, & 4

  Logan is stunned by the news of what happened in his house with the previous owner. He goes inside to ask his parents why they didn't tell him that an old lady was murdered in the house 3 years ago. His mother and father seemed to nothing about this event and told Arthur that she had just fallen down the steps.
  Later that evening, Athur comes iver with a cake that his grandma told him to give to the family. During this time, he gives some insiteful information about differnt people in the town and explains how the real eastate agent probably only told them that Mrs. Donaldson had fallen so that she could sell the house to them. The next day Arthur comes over to get Logan so he can give him a tour of the town. They both go off on their bikes and begin the short tour of the town. Many of the houses and buildings had a sign in the yard saying SAVE THE MAGIC. They also drive by an old run down theme park called Magic Oaks. Finally they arrive to the library to sign Logan up for a library card. While they are there they decide to read the newspaper article on Mrs. Donalsdson's murder. When they return the paper they meet a lady who was looking for the same exact article. She had been doing a reprt on the cold case files and was looking into Mrs. Donaldson's case. They boys both give her their name and number so she can come to the house to take pictures and talk to Mrs. Jenson.

chapter 1

In the first chapter, the main character, Logan, arrives at his new house. He describes the house as run down and  exaggerates that "it probably doesn't even have any water." When he gets to the house they see a big black dog on the porch. They talk about the dog and figure he belongs to the neighbors. The neighbor boy comes along and tells them that he does belong to them but he used to belong to the lady that used to live in Logan's new home. The neighbor boy Arthur, stayed and told Logan about the house that he was now going to live in. Arthur explains that the lady in the old house was murdered. Arthur's grandmother was the one that found the old ladies body. At the end of the chapter, Arthur's grandma comes out and tells Arthur to come inside for dinner.

why it was banned

The book i will be reading is called closed for the season. The reason this book was banned is because it involves magic. Closed for the season is supposed to be about two friends in the magic forest and see the old amusement park that has a sign posting: closed for the season.
